Robert Louis Weishan

Robert served his country with steadfast dedication in the United States Marine Corps from 1948 to 1952, and was involved in one of the fiercest battles of the Korean War at the Chosin Reservoir in 1950. His life reflected the quiet strength of a hard-working man—steady in purpose, faithful in duty, and guided by conviction.

Robert was a beloved husband to Nadine for 72 years, and a devoted father to Michael (Kathy), Theresa (Larry), Patrick (Monica), and Kevin (Misty). He was also blessed with a large family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as his younger sister, Barbara, and many nieces and nephews. Across the country, he was surrounded by hundreds of friends who knew him for his constancy, his wisdom, and the care he gave so freely to others.

In the many arenas of community life where he served, Robert’s faithful commitment was unmistakable. He was inducted into the San Diego Umpire Official Hall of Fame. For twenty-five years, he volunteered for the California Highway Patrol and was the original leader who started the Highway Patrol volunteer program in El Cajon—a program now used by every CHP office throughout the state of California. He served as President of the San Diego Umpires Association. He also volunteered for 47 years for the Torrey Pines PGA golf tournament, many of those years as Director of Marshals.

Robert worked for the San Diego Chargers for twenty-five years, most of that time as the captain of the sideline officials who operated the chains and down markers. He and his crew were on the sidelines for the three Super Bowls held at “The Murph.” Yet, regardless of how busy his schedule was, he always found time for his family, believing that family is first—a devotion he lived out with consistency and love.

Visitation will be held at St Luke Catholic Church, 1980 Hillsdale Rd, El Cajon, CA 92019, on August 26, 2026, from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. A Funeral Service will follow at St Luke Catholic Church on August 26, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. A Committal Service will take place at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Dr, San Diego, CA 92122, on August 26, 2026, from 1:15 pm to 1:45 pm.
