He is preceded in death by his father Camiel. Ron graduated from Amphitheater High School in Tucson, AZ in 1966, where he was active in football and baseball. He then attended Arizona Western College in Yuma. He moved to San Diego, California in 1968. He began his over 40-year roofing career after completing the apprenticeship program with Roofers Local 45, San Diego. He was co-founder and co-owner of A & R Roofing, Lakeside, CA. He had been a salesman and project manager for A-1 All American Roofing (95-97), RSI Roofing (97-2009), and C & I Roofing (2009-2018). Over the years, Ron was involved with BOMA San Diego, San Diego County Apartment Association, several property management companies, and the Westfield Mall properties. Ron enjoyed being involved in his community. He was a member of the San Diego Elks Lodge #168, Kearny Mesa Moose Lodge #1852, both for over 10 years. He was a member of Caradventures Camping Club 15 years, and president for 6 years. Ron loved spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sportsman and had a competitive spirit. This was apparent in his involvement over the years in over-the-line, softball, golf, pool, horseshoes, bowling, fishing, football, and baseball. He loved sharing his joy of life, and always welcomed people to come join the party. Due to a medical deferment, Ron was not able to serve in the military. In spite of this, he had a strong love of his country. He was a strong supporter of Veterans, the Warrior Foundation of San Diego and the Wounded Warrior Foundation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to one of these foundations in his name. Cowboy Ron will be missed by all!
A celebration of life will be held in Ron’s honor at the Steele Canyon Golf Club on September 8, 2018 beginning at 2pm.
