Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is survived by her children: Stacey (Dana) Delveau, Debbie (Karen) Hawthorne, Chuck (Christy) Rheam, and Gene (Lisa) Rheam.
She was also the beloved “Mema”(grandmother) of Danny Reamer, Jeffrey (Adrienne) Delveau, Caleb (Nina) Rheam, Matthew (Brandi) Delveau, Lauren Rheam, Rebecca Delveau, Liandra Rheam, Lynsie Rheam, Brittany (John) Thorpe, Cailey Rheam, Steven Delveau, Hannah (Joshua) Hinz, Elizabeth Delveau, Chrissy Delveau, and Noemi Delveau.
Her legacy continues through her cherished great-grandchildren: Benvolio Rheam, Aaliyah Palacio, Asher, Alyrah, Adley, Naomi, Charlie, Shiloh, and Braxton Delveau; John and Dexter Thorpe; and Eloise and Jeremiah Thomas Hinz.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Fredrick “Fritz” Rheam, who passed away in February 2025.
Shirley will be remembered for her generous, giving spirit. She was warm and welcoming—never meeting a stranger. She had an encouraging heart, always believing the best in others and helping them believe in themselves.
She passionately supported her children’s and grandchildren’s athletic endeavors, serving as a team mom for many years and rarely missing a game. Her devotion extended beyond her family into the community. Shirley was an active volunteer at Midway Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years, as well as at CenterPointe Church and local schools.
A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, July 11, at Miramar National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a charity Shirley and Fritz faithfully supported after their granddaughter received care there.
