Teddeaux “Ted” Lamoureux, Jr. was born in San Diego to Teddeaux L. Lamoureux, Sr. and Edith Frances (Peters) Lamoureux. He was a seventh generation Californian (his mother’s ancestors, Jose Manual and Maria Valenzuela Machado came to California from Sonora, Mexico in 1781). His father was in the Navy so the family lived in several places as he and his brothers were growing up. He joined the Air Force and was on active duty during the Korean War. He graduated in 1958 from San Diego State with a degree in Physics. He worked for General Dynamics, Convair Division, for 35 years in Test and Development. He taught several classes at the community college level over the years.
He married Margaret Bosley in 1955 and had 6 children. They were married almost 49 years before her passing in 2004. In his retirement, he and Margaret traveled throughout the U.S. in their motorhome visiting 48 states. After Margaret passed away, he married Rose Gallina and was married to her for 17 years before her passing.
He volunteered at the Retired Senior Volunteer Patrol (RSVP) with the San Diego Police Department along with the San Diego Air and Space Museum (Gillespie Field) restoring aircraft. He did extensive research and wrote several books on his genealogy tracing his ancestry back into the 10th century England and Scotland. He also wrote 2 novels as well as a text book used at Mesa College many years ago.
He is survived by his brother, Mike, his sons Teddeaux III and Jon, his daughters Jeanvieve, Suzanne (Sorrells), Margaret (Palechek). He is predeceased by his son, Robert, and brothers Lennard and Pierre. He also leaves behind many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ted Leon Lamoureux Jr., age 91, of San Diego, California passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023.
