Terry Brad Hunter was born March 29, 1956 in New Orleans, LA. He was the third child born to Mr. & Mrs. Mason and Irma Hunter. He accepted Jesus Christ into his life at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of Reverend John Francis at Evening Star Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1974, Terry welcomed his first of many daughters, Danielle. He married Pamela Rochelle Ray on February 16, 1980 and they had three more daughters, Quianne, Ramona and Terrilyn.
Terry moved from New Orleans to San Diego, CA in 1987 and built a career as a respected and highly sought after painter. He worked for the City of San Diego, retiring in 2020 after 20 years of service. Throughout his career, he received numerous awards and recognition for his work within the city of San Diego.
Terry loved listening to jazz, entertaining friends and family, and visiting New Orleans, affectionately referred to as “home.” If ever given an opportunity to take a vacation, he always choose to go home.
Terry is preceded in death by his father, Mason Hunter, Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Pamela Hunter of San Diego, CA; daughters, Danielle Hunter (Darrell) of New Orleans, LA, Quianne Johnson and Ramona Armon (Marchaune) of Dallas, TX, and Terrilyn Hunter of San Diego, CA; mother, Irma Hunter; brother, Mason Hunter, Jr. (Adrian); sisters, Cynthia Banks (Arthur) and Lear Owens (Rickey), all of New Orleans, LA; and a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Terry will be held Monday, June 6, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at El Cajon Mortuary and Cremation Service, 684 South Mollison Ave., El Cajon, CA 92020.
