Memorial Nursing Home. She was born September 16, 1916 in Strong. Avress was
the daughter of Samuel Lee and Evie Spencer Plair. She was a member of St.
Andrews Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Henderson State
Teachers College. She taught school in Union County for 44 years and at Strong
Elementary for the last years of her teaching career.
Those left to cherish her memory are one daughter, Linda Colleen Gaudette of El
Dorado, two grandchildren; Dana Rhyan Vickers of El Dorado and Fletcher Knox
Rhyan of Little Rock, two special great grandchildren, Jake Allen Cogburn, and
Michael Patrick Rhyan who lovingly called her meter of El Dorado, and a special
cousin, Mitzi Osborn of Whiting, Indiana.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 21 at 2:00 P.M. at Ebenezer
Presbyterian Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. The
family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.on Monday, April 20 at
Youngs.
