Betty Jo worked as an LPN at Oak Ridge Nursing home and then Union Medical Center until her retirement. She was a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Betty loved sitting on the porch watching deer, fishing, feeding the birds, gardening fishing and deer hunting. She loved her rose garden, every Mother’s Day her son, Johnny would plant her a new rose bush. She also really enjoyed collecting antiques and antique shopping. She cherished her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.
Preceding her in death are her parents and husband of 39 years, Ronald Black and her later in life partner, Robert Deeds, a sister, a brother, and grandson, Rustin Ty Orrell.
Surviving her are her daughter, Angie Joe (Roderick) of El Dorado and two sons, Johnny Black (Cari) of El Dorado, Brandon Black of Helena, Arkansas. She will be greatly missed by her six grandchildren, Kayla, Austin, Dalton, Logan, Bailey, and Landon, also her three great-grandchildren, Cameron, Cadence, and Jestin. She is also survived by her lifelong friend Dorothy Sue Black “Aunt Dot”.
Honoring their grandmother's memory by serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren, and Evan Martindale.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Young’s Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 at Pigeon Landing Cemetery formerly known as Oak Grove Cemetery with James Caroll Frisby and Dorothy Sue Black officiating and under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
