Betty Lou Hill Stover was born on January 13, 1931, in Faith, South Dakota to Willard Leroy and Helen Olsen Hill.
Her family later moved to Storm Lake, Iowa where Betty attended Storm Lake High School; she was the drum majorette, a member of All State choir, National Honors Society, and played different rolls in several plays throughout high school. She was a Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls of the Iowa Grand Assembly.
After graduating high school in 1949, she attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, MO where she graduated. In her time at Chillicothe she was the Homecoming Queen, treasurer of the Iowa State Club, and on the basketball team.
Betty met her husband of 58 years, Albert C Stover while at College. They were married June 5, 1951 in Storm Lake, IA and moved to San Antonio, TX. They would later move to El Dorado, AR where they began their lives together.
Betty was a bookkeeper and co-owner of Stover Auto Supply. She also enjoyed hosting church Circles and various parties and events in her home. She loved to scrapbook and collect greeting cards from family and friends. She also loved to travel and see many different gardens, filled with flowers, around the United States.
Betty was a long-time, faithful member of First United Methodist Church in El Dorado. She was active in the Motet choir, Wesleyan Sunday School class, Fellowship of the Sent, former member of the Golden Girls Exercise Class and former leader of Circles 1 and 7. She was a past president of the United Methodist Women and the past president of the Nifty Fifties.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert C. Stover, and two brothers Larry Hill and Jerry Leroy Hill.
Survivors include daughter Debbie Villarreal of Kerens, TX, sons David Stover of El Dorado and Danny Stover of Cincinnati, OH, grandchildren Rebekah Curl (Cricket) of El Dorado, Jacob Stover of El Dorado, Rachel Smith (Jacob) of Greers Ferry, AR, Hannah Stover of Farmington, AR, great-grandchildren Ashleigh Curl, Emalynn Curl, Zoey Curl, Effie Jane Smith and Eloise Smith.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 23, at First United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Friday, January 22, at Young’s Funeral Directors Chapel. Masks and social distancing are required. Burial will be at Arlington Memorial Cemetery.
