

Bobbie Jean Jones, 84, of DeQueen, Arkansas and El Dorado, Arkansas, passed into her eternal heavenly home on Sunday, August 2, 2026. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and a beloved friend to all who knew her.
She was born June 19, 1942 to C.C. (Bobby) Smith, and Bonnie Rae Smith of DeQueen; Mother to Ken Jones of El Dorado, AR, and former wife and lifelong dear friend to Joe Jones of Texarkana, AR.
Bobbie Jean was a graduate of DeQueen High School (class of 1960), and a business graduate of Texarkana College in 1962. She was a classic example of hard work, grit and a can-do attitude. She married Joe Jones in 1964, and she gave birth to their son Ken in 1966.
Bobbie Jean worked in the air traffic control tower at the Texarkana Airport, secretarial work at Weyerhaeuser, as an appliance salesman at Sears, a writer and publisher for The Feathered Warrior Magazine in DeQueen, and in DeQueen at First National Bank as a teller. She retired and moved to El Dorado in 2002 where she was “Nana” full time to her grandchildren and all of their friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, C.C. (Bobby) Smith and Bonnie Rae Smith, her brother Charlie Ray Smith, and her former husband Joe Jones.
She is survived by her son Ken Jones, Daughter-in-Law, Benita Jones, Granddaughter, Molly Jones Calhoun (Brent Calhoun), Grandson, Will Jones (Mallorey Jones), Great-Grandchildren, Kendall Ann Calhoun, Katie Beth Calhoun, Kristen Claire Calhoun, Drew Jones, and Caroline Jones. She is also survived by a host of neighbors, friends, and her “neighborhood babies” who were all very dear to her.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday August 16 at 2:00 pm at Parkers Chapel First Baptist Church in the fellowship hall.
The family asks that in her memory donations be made to UCAPS, P. O. Box 204, El Dorado, AR 71730 to help animals without homes, as we all know how much she loved her cats, dogs, birds, squirrels and other animals she took in over the years.
