Brenda Ellen Gilbert

She was born February 6, 1942 in Bernice, LA to Roy Flurry and Elvia Pesnell Flurry. Brenda received her teaching degree from Northwestern State University and went on to teach in south Louisiana and later Norphlet where she retired in 1992. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Preceding her in death are her father, Rev. Roy Flurry; grandchildren Jackson, Kenlee & Georgia Gilbert and her father and mother-in-law, Freeman & Enid Gilbert.

Survivors include her mother, Elvia Flurry of El Dorado; her husband, George Gilbert of El Dorado; sons, Glenn Gilbert (Shelly) of Camden, Kenneth Gilbert (Angie) of Camden and Randy Gilbert (Sara) of El Dorado; grandchildren, Michael & Emma Gilbert of El Dorado, Lexi Gilbert of Smackover and Maddy Albritton of Camden; siblings, Rev. Ron Flurry (Janet) of Choudrant, LA and Barbara McWilliams (Jesse) of El Dorado; numerous nieces nephews and many friends and family.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2014 in Young’s chapel with Rev. Tommy Kimball officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at the funeral home.
