Calvin A Leveritt, 82, of El Dorado, AR; passed away on Friday, November 30, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on February 19, 1936 in Smackover, AR; he was the son of Thomas R. Leveritt and Vallie Owens Leveritt. Calvin served our country and community as a soldier and peace officer. He served in the Army for two tours in Korea during the war. Calvin was also stationed in Japan where meet the love of his life Taiko. After returning from the military; Calvin began a life-long career in law enforcement starting as a patrolman and retiring as Assistant Chief and Chief of Detectives for the El Dorado Police Department. Calvin also was briefly a Union County Sheriff’s Deputy before moving to the Union County Municipal Court where he retired as Court Administrator and Probation. He was also a member of the El Dorado Civil Service Commission and was a lifetime member and board member of the Arkansas Municipal Police Association. The best parts of Calvin’s life were with his family especially his grandchildren at their various functions.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Alfred Lee Leveritt and Robert Leveritt, a daughter Lee Ann Leveritt, sons David Paul Leveritt and Douglas Gifford Leveritt and a daughter in law Cathie Davis Leveritt .

Survivors are his wife of 62 years Taiko Kasai Leveritt; sons John Leveritt and Michael Leveritt (Nicole) ; brother Harold Leveritt (Rosemary) of W. Monroe, LA; grandchildren Jennifer Goocher (Paul), Drake Leveritt, Lacie Leveritt, Dakota Williams; great grandchildren Hunter Goocher, Karli Goocher, Jackson Goocher, and Chloe Goocher.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 4th at Young’s.

Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 5, 2018 in Young’s Chapel with Rev. Sterling Claypool officiating. Burial will follow at Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
