Born on September 6, 1932, in El Dorado Arkansas, Carolyn was an only child, born to the late Elmer Pascal (E.P.) and Imogene (Trixie) Hammond. Carolyn graduated from El Dorado High School and attended college at Texas State College in Denton. She married her high school sweetheart, Arthur Roland Wilson, Jr. on December 27, 1952 at First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado. They soon headed to College Station for Roland to attend Texas A&M University. Blessed with three daughters, they planted roots in Texas. Later, Roland’s career as a petroleum engineer took them overseas and they were thrilled to travel the world before retiring in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, where Carolyn enjoyed a successful career in real estate.
Carolyn never knew a stranger. She had the gift of gab and a contagious laugh. She loved cooking, entertaining, traveling, being with family, and long talks with old friends. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her needs last. She was deeply loved by her family and her sweet blue eyes will always be remembered.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Roland Wilson, grandson Joseph Hyslop and second husband George Colescott. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Marsha and Bill Hyslop; Melinda Stephenson and Bill Simeone; Monica Griffin and Alan Hepp. Her grandchildren (including spouses and great-grandchildren) are Michelle, Robert, Aidan, Owen, and Andrew Strauss; Ryan, Celeste, Sawyer and Avery Hughes; Cal, Suyoung and Blue Hyslop; Joe Hyslop; Jake Hyslop; Chad, Beth and Davis Stephenson; Chris Griffin; Haley, Carter and Lane Sakewitz.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored by your donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Carolyn will be laid to rest next to Roland in El Dorado at a private ceremony on Friday, July 31 at 11:30 am.
