She was born on October 27, 1932, in Wabbaseka, Arkansas to Harvey and Eula Benson.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful friend whose greatest joy was caring for those she loved. She treasured every moment spent with her husband of 72 years, whether they were traveling in search of unique antiques to add to their cherished collections, tending their garden, tackling home projects together, or maintaining and preparing their land for hunting season. Their partnership was built on love, laughter, and a shared enjoyment of life's simple moments.
She was deeply devoted to her family and never hesitated to lend a helping hand to her children, no matter the task. One of her greatest gifts was sewing, which became both her creative outlet and a lasting expression of her love. She designed and lovingly created countless homecoming and prom dresses, tailored job interview suits for her daughters, and filled her home with beautiful handmade draperies, bedspreads, and accent pillows. Through every stitch, she gave pieces of herself that will be treasured for generations.
Her home was a place of warmth and hospitality, where family, friends, and neighbors could always count on a welcoming heart. She found genuine joy in cooking and baking for others, especially during times of need. Her servant's heart was also evident in the loving care she gave her own mother following a serious health event, faithfully walking beside her when she needed support the most.
She treasured the friendships she built through years of playing bridge and with her beloved Sunday School class at church. Her gift of hospitality was evident in the many bridal showers and celebrations she thoughtfully hosted over the years. She lived a life marked by quiet generosity, steadfast faith, and selfless service, leaving those around her feeling cared for, encouraged, and deeply loved. Her legacy is one of unwavering devotion to God, her family, and her friends, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; 3 brothers, Ben Benson, Lyde Benson, Olan Benson; two sisters, Dean McClendon and Nell Mow; one grandchild, Ainsley Victoria.
She is survived by her husband, Charles; four children, Diane, Dwayne, Kristi and Leigh; grandchildren, Justin, Tyler, Joey, Sarah, Jacob, Julia, Sam and Charlotte; and great grandchildren, Aiden, Rose and James.
