

Cora Thornton Hatcher, 98 of Smackover passed away Wednesday, May, 6, 2026 at Oak Ridge Nursing Home. Born August 15, 1927 in Union County, Arkansas, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Victoria Velma Dumas Holden.
Mrs. Hatcher was longtime hairdresser and member of First Baptist Church of Smackover.
Preceding her in death along with her parents were her husbands, Robert Thornton and Lance Hatcher, a daughter, Mayla Jane Thornton, step-son, Durwood Hatcher and step-daughters, Gloria Colesworthy and Dona Snell along with her sisters, Pauline Boyett, Nancy Griffin, Laura Holden, Florence Lively, Irene Scharbor, and Velma Stewart and brothers, Herbert Bates and Thomas Holden.
Survivors include her son, Jeff Thornton (Brenda) of Ft. Pierce, FL and grandchildren, Betsy Malding (Mark) of Bentonville, AR and Jay Thornton of Melbourne Beach, FL and step-grandchildren, Kyley Renfro of Hot Springs, Ashley Renfro of San Antonio, TX and Alison Stark (Michael) of Kansas City, MO, along with 6 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Monday, May 11, 2026 from 1:00 p.m until service time of 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Smackover with Rev. Carly Davis and Rev. Ray Wells officiating. Interment will follow in Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
