Born July 21, 1951, in El Dorado, he was the son of Albert Wilson Chenoweth, II and Ann Riffe Chenoweth. Mr. Chenoweth was a welder and a longtime member of Local 706. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Smackover.
Preceding him in death along with his parents were a brother, Albert W. "Dub" Chenoweth and a sister, Judy Ellenburg.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Chenoweth of Smackover, a son, Mitchell Chenoweth (Kallie) of Louann and a daughter, Lea West (Chad) of Magnolia along with grandchildren, Ema Chenoweth, Archer Chenoweth, Grayson West, Georgia West, and Levi West along with two nieces, Jerilynn Champagne and Jenann Pearson.
David’s childhood home was located at 203 E. 13th Street; his home as an adult was located at 406 E. 13th Street. That is not to say David did not go far in life. As a welder/pipefitter and proud member of Local 706 (now 155), he traveled all over the United States. He worked on several nuclear power plants including Arkansas One. He made his way up to the Alaskan Pipeline, down to Albuquerque, over to Kansas City and even did some time in Leavenworth (for a job, of course).
David excelled in all sports from being a Buckaroo quarterback to an American Legion shortstop. He loved to hunt, fish, and waterski, but most of all, David loved his family. Although his work took him away from home, his love for Janet, Mitchell, and Lea was so strong, they felt his strength even in his absence.
A couple of years ago, David was incredibly blessed to gain a “new family” at Courtyard Rehab in El Dorado. The staff at Courtyard cared for David with respect, kindness, and especially love every single day. They were the beautiful silver lining in the darkest of clouds.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 28, 2026, in the Fellowship Hall from noon until service time. Memorial services will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church of Smackover with Rev. Robin Roark officiating. Services are under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
