I always referred to Dennis as my sister’s husband....NEVER as my “brother-in-law!” Actually, I was proud of the fact that Dennis married my sister, Marsha! She could not have found a better husband, father and friend, not to mention he was a heck of a “Gur!” Through the 40 years that we were friends, we rode trail bikes together (we even ran over a deer together on our motorcycles!) We hunted and fished together. We played our guitars and “sang” together! He thought he sounded like Elvis....in his mind! We did electrical work in his chicken houses together (actually he watched and told stories of people he knew that were electrocuted while working on hot wires!) We worked together building his house! We even water-skied together. I really liked skiing with Dennis....he was the only friend I had whose legs were skinnier than mine! We shared big stories with each other. We would swap vocal “jabs” with each other....he always had the last word and left me with my mouth open, unable to think of a comeback! He called me nasty names like...Everisky! The best I could come up with was to call him Dennis the Menace! He considered that a compliment! Foiled again! I loved Dennis like everyone did! Someone asked me one time if I was stranded on a far-away deserted island and could pick one companion, would I pick my beautiful wife Emily or would I pick Dennis....I had to do a lot of thinking before I came up with an “appropriate” answer! Naw...I finally answered, Emily! Then I asked if I could choose “two” people to be on that island! Dennis would have been one of them! Marsha, Lauri and Lindsey, Milton and Lane and all those wonderful grandchildren and I, will miss Dennis dearly as will my family who loved him! The good news....the very best news, is that we’ll just miss him for a short while! Because of Dennis’ trust in his Lord Jesus....because of our family’s trust in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we will all spend eternity together with Dennis forever!

We here at North Point just heard of Mr Dennis’ passing this morning and are so sorry. We only got to know Mr Dennis for a short while but learned quickly that he loved his farm and his family very much. Many stories were told of his younger days driving trucks as we had a lot in common. He will be sorely missed as a valued customer but more importantly as a good friend. Many prayers for each of his family members in the days ahead and may God give each of you peace and comfort knowing your dearly departed loved one is in a better place. Again we will miss seeing Mr Dennis and his infectious smile here at the feed store.

When I think of Dennis, I smile! He was always full of mischief! Looking back on lots of memories with you but the one I remember always was the night we all spent looking for Bob and Alfred and Ray! All night Dennis searched! The last time we saw you, he insisted to take us to eat catfish! We will never forget your love for each other and all of us friends and family! Our hearts are broken for you Marsha and your family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine. I pray that God gives you the peace and comfort that you need to get through. Mr. Dennis was a great man. He would pass by the house often going to bale hay when I was young and would always stop to speak to us and make us laugh. I will always remember how he loved to make people laugh. He was such a hard worker and I know it impacted you girls and made you both who you are today. May God bless you and comfort you is my prayer.
