Born August 21, 1950 in El Dorado, he was the son of Joseph Bascom and Marjorie Thornton Ray. Mr. Ray had been employed by the Union County Highway Department and was a member of Galilee Baptist Church.
Preceding him in death along with his parents was a son, Bruce Jones, brothers, Daniel Browder and James Wesley Ray.
Survivors include his wife Janice Ray and sons, David Jones (Jo Anna), Sidney Jones and Joe Ray (Tiffany) all of El Dorado. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2016 in Young’s chapel with Rev. Robert Jackson and Rev. Clay Dickson. Interment will follow in Parker’s Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Young’s.
