

Dorothy Lee Hood Parks Holder passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017. She was 88 years old. Dorothy was born November 3, 1928, in Commerce, Texas. She was the daughter of Rev. Broad L. Hood and Elsie Leona Lawhon Hood.
Dorothy was a homemaker, artist and friend. She loved family, Gospel music, good books, fried catfish, Spudnuts and being around people. She was a resident of El Dorado, Arkansas, for 71 years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence E. Parks, brother Charles Van Hood.
She is survived by her husband Don R. Holder of Prescott Valley, Arizona, daughters Barbara J. Merritt of Houston, Texas, Patsy R. Brown (Carl) of Waldo, Arkansas and son Clarence E. Parks, Jr. (Rhonda) of Bossier City, Louisiana, step-daughter Larri Lyn Stell (Rick) of Prescott Valley, Arizona, sister Geraldine Hood of East Alton, Illinois, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 24, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Young’s Funeral Home in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, at Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado with Rev. Jimmy Meeks officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Dorothy’s grandchildren will serve their grandmother as pallbearers.
