

Born July 21, 1933 in Strong, she was the daughter of Albert Chatham Hargett and Ellen LaNora
Garner. She attended Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Strong for many years.
Dorothy loved spending time in her garden and was passionate about hummingbirds. She was an
expert seamstress and quilter, and had many hobbies, including family history and genealogy in her
later years. She and her husband of 67 years, William Moraell “Joe” Norris, enjoyed traveling around
the country pulling their travel trailer looking for new adventures. She was a beloved wife, daughter,
sister, mother, and friend. The grandchildren called her Mamaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother Robert Wilson Hargett.
She is survived by one son, Donovan Norris and his wife, Starlette, of Greenville, SC; three daughters,
Lucretia Norris Coulter and her husband, Ed, of Mountain Home, AR; Ava Norris Jones and her
husband, Scott, of Marion, LA; Teresa Norris Evans and her husband, Mark, of The Woodlands, TX; a
half sister Linda Hargett Mitchell, and a half brother Stanley Albert Hargett of Calhoun, La. Also
surviving are ten grandchildren – Jason Norsworthy, David Norsworthy, Jessica Norris Fincher, Daniel
Norsworthy, Kasey Jones Price, Morgan Norris Kelly, Ben Jones, Joseph Norsworthy, Anne Marie
Evans Powers and Catherine Evans Bussey; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Jason Norsworthy, David Norsworthy, Daniel Norsworthy, Joseph Norsworthy, Ben
Jones and Quinn Powers (grandsons).
Visitation will be Monday, November 29 at 10:00 AM at Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in
Strong, immediately followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary. Officiating
the service will be Brother Danny Malone and assisted by Jessica Norris Fincher and Catherine Evans
Bussey. Burial will follow at the Norris Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
