She graduated from El Dorado High School (1947) where she played basketball. She was a self-proclaimed tomboy and always said she would have played football like her brothers, if they had allowed girls to play. She went to Arkansas Tech on a basketball scholarship, but always claimed they never even had a girl’s basketball team.

She graduated from CBC in 1955.She returned El Dorado after graduation to work for two years at the Second Baptist church where she helped to start their kindergarten. She also served at a Topeka Kansas church for two years.
In 1958 she married Sam G. Shepperson, a local pastor at Marrable Hill Chapel and served in many capacities there until their retirement in 1995.After retirement, they served as pastor and wife at the Scotland Presbyterian Church in Scotland, Arkansas for 10 years.
Dot was a tireless mother, children’s bible teacher, pastor’s wife, and all around compassionate person. She will be remembered for her gentle southern drawl, her warm hospitality, kindness to the poor and underprivileged and her love for the Word of God. Although not perfect, her eighty-eight years proved that God’s way is the way to true joy and peace in life. Isaiah 26:3 – “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee”.
