Jesus’ still small voice called Elizabeth Garner home on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 after a brief illness. She was born June 22, 1946, to C.S. and Elizabeth Wilson and was simply known as “Honey” by her family. She lived in El Dorado her entire life and impacted many in the community with her servant heart. Her love for the Lord motivated her to give selflessly. Elizabeth took great joy in serving her family and her church, teaching God’s word, preparing meals for the sick and bereaved, and volunteering with various organizations. She was an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in El Dorado.
She is survived by Ed Garner, her husband of 47 years; two daughters, Shelly McMurtrey (Bobby) of Rison and Amy Wood (Shannon) of Benton; two brothers, Charles Wilson of El Dorado and Winston Wilson of Ozark; one sister, Janice Smith of El Dorado; three grandchildren; Justin McMurtrey, Mackenzie and Hayden Wood, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. If there was an ounce of pride in her life, it was over her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday evening.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel with Rev. Ron Sanders and Kay Rudell officiating and vocalists Mike and Charlotta Houston. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Immanuel Baptist Church building fund, 701 S. West Ave., El Dorado, AR 71730.
An online guest registry will be available at www.youngsfuneralhome.com
