Frank Scott Burton, age 60, went to fish the river of life, on June 8, 2018, in Wailea, Hawaii.

He spent his last days on earth enjoying time with his wife of 38 years, Julia Buchanan Burton. He was born on January 11, 1958, in Little Rock, AR to Lyla Dunnavant Burton and the late Frank Charles Burton. He was the father to daughter Emily Burton Pennington and husband Andy Pennington of Conway, AR and son Brandon Burton and wife Molly Burton of Hot Springs, AR. He was the best “Poppy” to Brooks “Bean” and Presley “Peanut” Pennington of Conway, AR and Kate “Ladybug” and soon to be Cooper Burton of Hot Springs, AR. He was the brother to Pam Burton Warren and husband Les Warren of Hot Springs and Clay Burton and wife Kristi Mitchell Burton of El Dorado, AR. All his nieces and nephews will deeply miss their “Uncle Scott”. He intentionally loved each of them with a genuine and caring heart.

Scott graduated from Norphlet High School in 1976. He went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Southern Arkansas University in 1981. Scott was a member of College Avenue Church of Christ and served as a deacon for many years.

Scott was an avid outdoorsman and loved time with his family. He lived his life as an example of a great servant leader, hard worker, and gave selflessly to others. He is definitely gone too soon and his passing will forever leave a hole in our hearts and lives.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 14, 2018, at Young’s.

Too many memories of Scott to pick just one to share. We grew up together - and he was one of my favorite people. We only ran into each other occasionally as adults (I did see Scott and Brandon fairly often when I was waitressing at Rachel's and they'd stop in on their way to or from Felsenthal), but any time I saw him, it was like I had seen him every day. Julie, Em, Brandon - Lila, Pam - Scott's extended family of in-laws - there are no words. All I can say is that I am so very sorry for your loss. This world became a lesser place with Scott's passing.

I remember Brandon working for Burton Oil; how much he and Benne both enjoyed it and oh the stories they had to tell later. I remember one year of homecoming float building at my house; the week had lots of rain and Scott brought “industrial black plastic and covered the entire carport area (the staples from the staple gun are still in the carport siding !! I’m
Praying for the entire family as the Lord gives you the strength to take it one day at a time.

My deepest sympathy for you all. Scott was a wonderful person. I will always remember what a great school board member he was when I was teaching at Norphlet and how supportive he was as a parent when I was blessed to be Emily's teacher. He was a patient and loving coach for Meredith in softball. I will have you all in my prayers and always in my heart. Love to you all, Chris (Wagnon) Gonzalez-Texas.
