

George was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 55 years and served the church as a deacon and was active with Operation Christmas Child. George was a hard worker and spent over 25 years as an Oil Field worker with Phillips Petroleum Company working the Oil Field in the Joyce City area. George enjoyed spending time with family and working in the yard with his wife Brenda for the majority of their 47 years of marriage.
George is survived by two sons Glenn (Shelly) of Camden, Arkansas and Randy (Sara) of El Dorado. Three grandchildren Alexis (Ethan) Barber of Harrison, Arkansas, Maddy (Brad) McKelvin of Barling, Arkansas, and Emma Gilbert of El Dorado. One Great Grandchild Chandler Grace Barber. Also, two sisters Ruth Arnold of Clinton, Mississippi and Inez Jenks of Dunn, Louisiana and one brother Owen Gilbert of Shreveport, Louisiana.
He is preceded in death by his parents Freeman and Enid Gilbert, wife Brenda (Flurry) Gilbert, two brothers Claiborne and David Earl Gilbert, a son Kenneth Gilbert, two grandsons Michael Thomas Gilbert and Jackson Gilbert, two granddaughters Kinlee and Georgia Gilbert.
Service will be at Young's Funeral Chapel Saturday, August 29, 2026, with a viewing from 10:00 till 11:00 and a service at 11:00 followed by burial at Rest Haven Cemetery.
