Gurvis Franklin Vines, 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Homer, Louisiana, March 9, 2018. He was born August 31, 1935 in the Hibanks Community in Union County, Arkansas to Frank Vines, Sr. and Myrtis Gardner Vines.
Space does not permit the listing of his many accomplishments, honors, acts of community service, service to his church, and the long reaching impacts of his generosity to many, many people.
He is survived by the love of his life, and wife of 58 years, Shirley Pepper Vines, four children, Jay Vines (Jody), Kelly Brown (Jerry), Holly Harris (Steve), and Michael Vines, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, five sisters and two brothers.
The celebration of his life will be held at First Baptist Church – Homer, Louisiana on Monday, March 12th at 2pm with visitation at 1pm. Interment will follow the service at Craig Cemetery in the Hibanks Community under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
There will also be a visitation, Sunday, March 11th from 2pm-4pm at Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado.
