Gwen Machen

Born January 29, 1930 in North Wales, Great Britain she was the daughter of William and Rebecca Jones Rowlands. In her earlier years, she enjoyed being a homemaker, as well as being a retail manager at The Mercantile Store. She was an active member of Wyatt Baptist Church for 55 years, where she enjoyed numerous friendships and fellowship.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 51 years, J. L. Machen, who was the love of her life, and who brought her to the United States in 1954 as a war bride.

Survivors include a son Kenneth Machen and a daughter, Wanda Ramey both of El Dorado. Also surviving is a sister, Viona Ellis and a brother, Eifion Rowlands both of North Wales. Surviving grandchildren are Michael Ramey (Lindsey), Jason Ramey, Brittany Machen, Bethany Machen and Megan Alston along with 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Wyatt Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Thomas and Donny Hymer officiating. Interment will be at Village Methodist Cemetery near Magnolia under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
