

Gwendoline Wiltshire Evans, 90 of El Dorado, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas. She was born May 7, 1923 in Seaham Harbor, County Durham England to Henry and Elizabeth Wallace Wiltshire.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Gwendoline arrived in the states in 1945 and was one of the first English war brides. She established the English Girls Club, and was a veteran of the Royal Air Force.
Preceding her in death are her parents; loving husband, Clifford Byron Evans; three brothers, Joseph, Harry, and George Wiltshire; one sister, Jenny Ashett; and niece, Evelyn Wilson.
Survivors include three sons, Henry Evans of Greenwood, LA, Byron Evans and wife Leslie of Highland, IN, Reginald Evans and wife Bonnie of Prattville, AL; two daughters, Gail Shields and husband Gene, Wendy Walton and husband Louie both of El Dorado; sisters, Edith Little and husband Len, Betty Thompson of Seaham Harbor; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews in England and America.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Glendoline’s caregivers, Pat Hill, Aerriel Hicks, and Kristi Brice.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Young’s.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2004, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church with Father Charles Chapman officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
