Hilda was my buddy, my Pool Pal at HealthWorks in El Dorado.  I remember her back when she was able to stand tall, very tall, and ramrod straight in the water.  In the water, we were all unbound by gravity thanks to our magic belts and able to do lifts and curls with our hand weights made of that same magical material. 

And we played.  Every class.  Every time.  We talked about our families, our backgrounds,   And current events.  Current events for sure.  Current events at all levels including what was going on with our own bodies.  We talked, we laughed, we listened, we hugged.  Sometimes we prayed for each other right there in the water.

Once a month we had lunch together to celebrate our birthday people and admire each other in dry clothes and dry hair.  The standing joke was always, "Oh, I  didn't recognize you with your clothes on."

And we played.  We always played. Your mother was our beloved friend and our historian.  Among her things you're going to find lots of pictures of the same women.  Hilda would pose us.  Look this way, she'd say.  Or, I need the birthday girls together.  I know she took a lot of pictures.  After a while, she started bringing her past pitcures to lunch so that we could order reprints from her too.

She was the keeper for our memories for as long as she could be. Now we will be the keepers for her.

David and Mary Beth my deepest sympathy in the loss of you Mother.  She was a very special person, whom I have cherished knowing for many years.  My first acquaintance with her was as a teacher, then Mom to my friends, later a colleague in teaching and Delta Kappa Gamma,and most of all, a wonderful Christian lady who was a joy to count as a friend. David, Mary Beth-I feel like I have lost a dear friend. When I think of El Do growing up, of course I think of the old neighborhood. We really were blessed to live in a safe environment, going between each other's houses. Everyone's parents were every kids parents. Your dad was my math tutor. I even remember your mom's parents. Wow. Time goes by way too fast. I wish I could be there but I will not be able. I will tell mother when I see her. She will be sadden. She thought the world of your mom and thought of her often. Take care and celebrate the wonderful life your mom had while on earth.
