James (Jim) Howard Metcalf, 83, of Cabot, AR, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, ready to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jim was the foundation of our family—a man whose strength, integrity, and unwavering faith touched everyone around him. He was a man of deep character, with a heart full of love for his family. To him, family was everything. Jim’s faith carried him through life, and it sustained him until the very end.
Jim never met a stranger, always ready to share his warmth, his time, and his signature bear hugs. To know him was to love him.
Born on December 17, 1941, to Roger Howard and Irma Cornish Metcalf in Hope, AR, Jim devoted his life to others. He worked for Quality Foods, Inc., as a Territory Manager, but his true legacy lies in the relationships he built. Jim was a longtime member of Immanuel Baptist Church, but in recent years, he found a spiritual home at New Life Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Christopher Allen Metcalf; his sister, Peggy Perry; his brother, Bill Metcalf; and his niece, Amy Mantooth.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Linda Metcalf; son, Todd Metcalf (Nancy); daughter, Keri Yarbrough (Steven); and grandchildren, Megan Vatterott (Charlie), Chris Metcalf, Hayli Yarbrough, and Hudson Yarbrough. He is also survived by numerous dear nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Young’s Chapel with Brother Bill Odom officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park, with Military Honors, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
