Born on January 1, 1928 in El Dorado, AR; he was the son of Fred and Exa Aenchbacher Prothro. A patriot, Jerry served in the Marines. Jerry owned and operated a small engine repair shop. He was retired from Lion Oil as a Lab Tech and was a member of Three Creeks Baptist Church. Jerry enjoyed mowing his grass along with hunting deer and turkey.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Maxwell, Paul, Calvin, Doyle and William Fred Prothro, a sister Meriexa Owen, and his son Vance G. Prothro.
Survivors are his wife of 69 years Emily Rogers Prothro; a daughter Linda Sinclair (Wayne) of Maumelle, AR; a son Jerry Prothro (Judy) of El Dorado; a sister Patricia Richmond (John) of Athens, TX. Along with grandchildren Chris Prothro, Jessie Prothro, Wesley Prothro, Adam Prothro (Dawn), Dana Lyons (Dewayne), Loralea Seale (Jon), Eric Sinclair (Tammy) and Clay Sinclair along with 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 pm, Saturday, September 1, 2018 in the Chapel of Young's Funeral Directors with Rev. Bob Inmon officiating. The family will receive friends prior to services from 1 pm to 3 pm. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church Cemetery.
