Jessie Lester LaRoux

Lester was a great man, a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He was an amazing person. Lester was born and raised in Zwolle, LA and attended St. Joseph's Elementary School and graduated from Zwolle High School in 1957. Lester was a former parishioner of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Shreveport, LA, and more recently at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in El Dorado, AR. He served as the Deputy Grand Knight for the Marion Council 3779 Knights of Columbus in Shreveport. More recently, he was a member of Knights of Columbus of Holy Redeemer Church, El Dorado.

Lester enjoyed spending his time outdoors, and spent many Saturday nights watching the LSU Tigers play football, and Sunday afternoons watching the Saints. An avid sports fan, Lester loved his Zwolle Hawks. He loved his family tremendously, and never faltered in parenting, not even once. Lester loved spending time with his grandchildren, spending many a summer's day watching over them as they swam or played.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Jesse Lee and Ardelle Ezernack LaRoux.

Survivors include his wife, Claudia LaRoux of El Dorado; one son, Jeffrey LaRoux of Longview, TX; three daughters, Denise McCormick (Kelsey) of Powell, OH, Teresa Stone (Steve) of Simsboro, LA and Sarah LaRoux of Shreveport, LA; a brother, James Montgomery (Nancy) of Goodyear, AZ; grandchildren, Jarred McCormick (Holly), Julia McCormick, Lindsay Heard (Richard), Jessica Hill (Mark), Justin LaRoux, Cody LaRoux, Zane Atkinson, Jessie LaRoux-Gordy, Ashley Gordy and Tyler Gordy; great-grandchildren, Alesana McCormick, Caroline Heard, Amari Hill, Evangelyne Gordy and Brayden Gordy and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Holy Redeemer Columbarium Fund, 440 West Main St., El Dorado, AR 71730. Please come and help us celebrate the blessed life of this remarkable man. Memorial Services will be Wednesday February 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM, Holy Redeemer Catholic Church under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
