Born on January 11, 1933, she was the daughter of Herbert Newell Galbraith and
Florrie Popp Galbraith. Jo Ann was first a secretary for Lion Oil, then a
homemaker; she and her husband, Orville, later went into business as owners of
“The Rental Store” and then retired as a saleswoman for Marian’s Dress Shop. Jo
Ann was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Orville Smith; a son, Mark
N. Smith; sisters, Marian Mitcham and Maxine Mason (Wayne), and a nephew, Bob
Mitcham (Joy).
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Smith of Magnolia; granddaughter, Natalie
De Traz (Chris) of El Dorado; great grandsons, Dalton and Dylan De Traz;
brother-in-law, David B. Smith of El Dorado and his sons, David, Danny, and
Kenny; a great nephew, Mike Mitcham (D’Ann), great nieces, Michelle Gregory
(Craig), and Melanie Markley (Richard); and a host of extended family.
Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Tuesday, April 23, 2019 in the chapel of
Young’s Funeral Directors with Dr. David Bush officiating. Visitation will be
held an hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial
Park. Pallbearers are Chris DeTraz, Mike Mitcham, Keith Atkins, David Brogdon and Danny Forrest.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Timberlane Health, Lifetouch Hospice,
and her caregivers, Mary Brogdon, Kathy McCormick, Linda Sinclair, and Kathy
Beasley, for the loving care provided to Jo Ann.
