Joan Upton Myers

She was born November 12, 1932, in Delhi, LA to J.D. Upton and Eugenia Chapman Upton. Before retiring Joan worked as a legal secretary for J.S. Brooks. She was an awesome cook with a great sense of humor, who loved reading, sewing, and playing bridge. For years, she could be found doing her daily walk in the mall. Joan was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and the Women’s Ministry Union.

Preceding her in death are her parents; and sister, Loretta Riser.

Survivors include her loving husband of 58 years, Claude V. Myers; two daughters, Sharon Myers (Sarah Haines) of Carrboro, NC, Susan Giles (Michael) of Norphlet; two grandchildren, Kelsey Noel Hansen, Tristan Cade Hansen; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Young’s.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Faron Roger officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Lamar Cemetery, 222 Lamar Church Rd., Delhi, LA under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
