Born on July 24, 1960, Jody lived a life filled with love, laughter, faith, and devotion to those she held dear. Raised in the Church of Christ, she carried a deep love for Jesus throughout her life. Her faith was a part of who she was, and her family finds comfort in knowing that the promise of Heaven means goodbye is not forever.
Jody lived a full and beautiful life, with a career that took her down several different paths. She worked as a flight attendant, spent time working in banking, and eventually found her place at Junction City School District, where she finished her career. There, she developed treasured friendships with coworkers she loved dearly and had the special opportunity to be close to her boys during their school years.
Of all the roles Jody held throughout her life, none brought her greater joy than being a wife, mother, and Mamaw. She loved her boys fiercely and was always one of their biggest supporters. Some of her happiest memories were made at the baseball field, cheering on her boys as they played the game they loved. She took such pride in each of them and the men they became.
As much as she loved being a mother, becoming a Mamaw brought an entirely new kind of happiness into her life. Her grandchildren were among her greatest blessings, and she loved each of them with her whole heart. Being their Mamaw was one of her greatest joys, and the love she poured into them will remain a part of who they are forever.
Jody had a remarkable gift for making people feel loved. She never met a stranger, gave the very best hugs, and had a way of making everyone around her feel like family. Her laughter, warmth, and joyful spirit left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her. It seemed that wherever her name was mentioned, someone had a story to share about how wonderful, fun, and special she was. She was simply one of those rare people whose presence made life a little brighter.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Louis and Libby Lamb; paternal grandparents, Frank and Eva Stone; her father, Joe Stone; her mother, Janet Stone; her stepmother, Kay Stone; her brother, Tim Stone; and her father-in-law, Marvis Thelan Wood.
Jody leaves behind her beloved husband of 36 years, Mark Timothy Wood Sr.; her sons, Mark Timothy Wood Jr. (Caitlyn), Joe Caleb Wood (Allison), and Josh Wood (Brittany); her cherished grandchildren, Brody and Briggs Wood, and Jude, Eliza, and Rhett Wood; her mother-in-law, Nancy Wood; her sister-in-law, Leah Wood Shryock; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Although her family wishes they could have had more time, they are forever grateful for the years, memories, laughter, and love they shared. Jody’s legacy will live on in the sons she loved, the grandchildren she adored, the friendships she treasured, and the countless lives she touched.
Her family will carry her love with them always—in every baseball game, every family gathering, every warm embrace, and every little reminder of the beautiful woman who meant so much to so many.
While her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, her family rests in the promise of Jesus Christ and the hope of a joyful reunion one day.
To know Jody was to love her. To be loved by Jody was a blessing that will last a lifetime.
