In August of 1956, they moved to New York City, where Jerry worked for Chase Manhattan Bank, while Jack was in graduate school. In 1957, they returned to El Dorado, Arkansas, where Jerry worked for American Oil as a cashier in the Payroll Office.

She quit work at American Oil in September 1964, and went to the World’s Fair in New York City with Jack and his sister and brother-in-law, Ethelyn and Scottie English. Upon her return to El Dorado, she stayed home as a wife and mother.

I have always loved seeing Mr. Jack and Mrs. Jerry every time I go home to Hillsboro because I have known them all my life. When I moved to Little Rock and married, had children...moved away then moved back to Little Rock and have regularly attended Central Church of Christ (used to be Barrow Road), imagine my surprise when on a Sunday my parents were visiting my dad was like...,"I'm going to talk to these old folks over here" and starts pointing to the back of my church. My dad usually never knows anyone but a few people at my church but there they were...Jack and Jerry ready to greet my "old man" Kenny Merritt with a happy smile as if they saw a piece of home in a place they needed to see home too. They were there visiting a friend but they had more friends than any two people I know because they were/are just always the two nicest people ever and that's how I will always remember them. I hope to be remembered like them but I know there are just no two people as amazing as Jack and Jerry McNutt. This world is a better place because of them.

Ms. Jerry was a lovely lady who showed grace and kindness to all. She and Mr. Jack opened their home to so many visitors while they lived in London; I will never forget the incredibly generous hospitality they showed when I visited them in London with Letha Brooks in 1973. Mr. Jack, Marsha, and the rest of the family remain in my thoughts and prayers
