

Joseph E. Flournoy Jr. passed away on May 1, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on April 22, 1940, in Kilgore, Texas. He lived a full and meaningful life rooted in family, hard work, and the things he loved most.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Emon and Kathleen Flournoy, and his daughter, Sandy Blakney.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gwen Flournoy; his daughters, Tracey Schuster and Kathy Flournoy; his siblings, Barry Flournoy and Judy Glenn; his grandchildren, Chris Reed, Liz Ramey, Bryan Schuster, Cami Johnson, and Dakota Blakney; and his great-grandchildren, Addison Dopson, Leeann Ramey, Jaxon Reed, Katie Schuster, and James Schuster.
Joseph graduated from El Dorado High School in 1958 and went on to build a long and dedicated career, retiring from Lion Oil after 35 years of service. He was a proud Mastersmith with the American Bladesmith Society and a longtime member of the Beech Creek Deer Camp.
He will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his commitment to his work, and the time he cherished with family and friends.
He passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home, in his recliner—just as he would have wanted.
