

Born March 31, 1938 in Smackover she was the daughter of James Bryant and Marie Eulata Norwood Cassel. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree she began a career as a Registered Nurse and a Quality Assurance Professional. During her career she was employed at Ouachita County Hospital, Warner Brown Hospital and Medical Center of South Arkansas where she was a onetime Director of Nursing. She was a member of the Arkansas Board of Nursing and had served as President of the Board.
She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Smackover and helped to establish the Honduran mission effort.
Linda lived her Christianity through her service to others through her career and her church. She was a wonderful mother to her family and was loved by all who knew her.
Preceding her in death along with her parents were her first husband, Jim “Bip” Martin, a son David Gibson Martin and two sisters, Myrna C. Hunt and Barbara A. Mayo.
Survivors include her husband Jim Marshall, two sons, Ronnie Neil Martin (Laura) of El Dorado and Jimmy Russell Martin (Shannon) of Smackover, two stepsons, Gary Marshall (Glenda) of Junction City and Cary Marshall (Debra) of Monticello. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren. 18 step-great grandchildren and 2 step-great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church of Smackover with Rev. Carly Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Newton, Jimmy Kennedy, Tommy Norrell, Jeff Price, Jackson Martin and Jim Phillips.
