Lorene was born in Village, AR and graduated from Village High School. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Smackover where she served faithfully. She loved the Lord and reflected His love in the way she lived.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, Troy Lankford Cheatham, daughter, Cindy Albritton, son, Roger Cheatham, grandson, Brent Moore, sister, Nell Channell, and brothers, Roy Rogers, Bill Rogers and Bob Rogers.
Lorene will be remembered for her steadfast faith, generous heart and unwavering devotion to her family. She was an excellent cook and was well known for her delicious homemade oatmeal cookies that she made frequently for her family and also shared with friends and neighbors.
She loved keeping the birds in her backyard fed and watered. And often, when she thought her family wasn’t watching, she would get out her push lawnmower in the heat of the day and mow her grass, even though her son-in-law regularly mowed her yard. She did this off and on until she was nearly 90 years old.
Survivors include her daughter, Rita Smith (Bubba) of Smackover, sisters, Nancy Smith (Denny) of Little Rock, Sally McLaurin of Vivian, LA, brother-in-law, Truman Channell of El Dorado, son-in-law, Jud Albritton of El Dorado and grandson, Justin Moore (Lindsey) of Little Rock, along with many special nieces and nephews.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home who lovingly took care of Lorene.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 and funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Smackover with Rev. Robin Roark officiating.
Due to the heat there will be no graveside service held at the Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
