

Elmer Lou Craig, lovingly known as "Lou or Lucy" to those who knew her best, passed away on September 11, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and joyful memories. Born on October 23, 1932, in El Dorado, Arkansas, Lou was the cherished daughter of Leona "Doll" Craig and Willie Elmer Craig. Though her father passed away in a tragic accident just two months before her birth, her mother honored his memory by naming her Elmer Lou, forever linking her to his legacy.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Lou was dedicated to her faith throughout her life. She served diligently in the gospel and was a source of love and light to all who knew her.Lou's gentle spirit, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends will be cherished forever. Throughout her adulthood, Lou was employed at Murphy Oil as well as various law firms as a paralegal prior to her retirement.
Although she never married, Lou helped raise her beloved nephew, Steve (Traci) Craig, and considered his children, Sara, Jennifer, Stephanie & Bradley, her own grandchildren. In her later years, she was cared for with love by her niece, Sue Riley, who ensured her days were filled with warmth and companionship.
Lou loved adventure and travel, frequently taking her nieces and nephews on trips across the country, creating lasting memories filled with joy. She was also blessed with many close friendships and will be remembered for her generosity, kindness, and the beautiful life she shared with those around her. Lou loved her family, her church, Christmas, Precious Moments Dolls, ice cream, and all sweets.
She is survived by her dear sister and best friend Faye McAllister. The two shared a close bond and spoke daily. Faye will deeply miss their daily conversations and the unwavering love they had for each other. Lou is also survived by her nephew Steve (Traci) and his children, her niece Sue Riley who all loved and cared for her daily, along with many other nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her kindness.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Leona and Willie Elmer Craig; her brothers, Clyde, Ira, and Jack; and her sisters, Estelle, Scott, and Bobbie. Those who knew her find comfort in joyfully imagining her sweet reunion with her parents and siblings on the other side of the veil, where they are once again united in love.Lou's memory will live on in the hearts of those she loved, and her reunion in the heavens will be a reward for the eternal bonds she created throughout her life.
A visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 422 E 28th Street, El Dorado, AR, at 12 PM on Monday September 16, 2024. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
