Margie Lee Phillips, 98, of El Dorado, "went home" March 26th at Timberlane Nursing Home. "Mammaw" was born November 23, 1923, at home in Lockhart, LA to Richmand Clarence and Rosa Groves Bryant. She was the 4th child and the first daughter. She graduated from Spearsville High School is 1941.
She married the love of her life Prather Joseph Phillips on December 8, 1945. They were married just shy of 50 years at the time of his passing on August 27, 1995.
In her younger years, Margie was employed with Colonial Bakery and later Pendleton Wholesale before becoming a stay-at-home wife and mother. She was a member of Murmil Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Willie, Bernie, and Orvell Bryant; brother-in-law, James "Buddy" Greer; an infant daughter, Carol; and son -in-law, Gene King.
She is survived by a daughter, Doris King of El Dorado; son, Keith Phillips (Carol) ofGreenwood, LA; 3 granddaughters, Gina Smith (Kris) of El Dorado, Katie Phillips of Bossier City,LA, and Caroline Phillips of Rock Springs, WY; 3 great grandchildren Kyle Smith (Kaylee) of Georgia, Kameron Smith of El Dorado, and Joseph Chase King (her little man) of El Dorado. She is also survived by her baby sister, Louise Greer and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Young's Funeral Home on March 29, 2022 at 1:00 with the service following at 2:00 with Bro. Bill Odem officiating. Burial will follow at Canaan Baptist Cemetery in Lockhart, LA.
The family would like to thank the very special staff at Timberlane Nursing Home for the wonderful care that they have provided over the last several years and to Life Touch Hospice for the compassionate care they provided.
