
Martha Anne Garrett, 98, of El Dorado, Arkansas, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, surrounded by her family in Rockwall, Texas. Anne (“Tweetie”) was born on January 2, 1927, in Camden, Arkansas to Harry E. and Mona Voght Meek.
She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees in English from Hendricks College. While attending Hendricks College, Anne met and married Carlton Lee Garrett. They spent most of their sixty-seven years of marriage in El Dorado. Anne worked alongside Carl operating Garrett’s Furniture, she raised three children, managed an immaculate household, and was an active member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. She encouraged those around her to embrace, or at least try, new things and experiences. Anne was the heart of the family, a trusted, steadfast presence that was there when we needed her most.
Anne is survived by her two sons, David Lee Garrett and wife, Cyndi Garrett, Donald Alfred Garrett and wife, Jennifer Hartman, daughter, Carol Ann Garrett, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Harry E. Meek and Mona Voght Meek, her husband, Carlton Lee Garrett, and her sister, Mary Youngchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2026, at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Young's Funeral Directors.
