Mary Frances "Sissy" Mace

Mary Frances “Sissy” Mace, 92 of Caledonia, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home. She was born January 27, 1923, to James “Jim” and Mary “Gussie” Brazeal Cates in Union County, AR.

Sissy was childless, but she was the mother to numerous pets, the latest Lulu the cat and Puddin her dog, whom she called her babies, and she helped raise Rachel Anglin Davis and called her the baby she couldn’t have. Rachel was with her when she peacefully became pain free. Sissy had outlived her cousins and immediate family members, but had a host of close friends, thanks to the Caledonia Baptist Church and Caledonia neighbors. She had nieces and nephews by marriage.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. today at Olive Branch Methodist Church Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with Rev. Sam Whitlow officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the Olive Branch Methodist Church.
