May Dan McKnight

She was born in Prescott, Arkansas on January 6, 1927 to the late Roy F. and Opal Davis. May Dan graduated in 1944 from El Dorado High School, El Dorado, Arkansas where she was a member of Delta Beta Sigma sorority. She worked for TOSCO and Murphy Oil Corporation in El Dorado as an account clerk for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of El Dorado.

She moved to Chattanooga in 2000 to be near her family. She attended Hixson United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Sam P. McConnell Sunday School Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Veldon R. McKnight.

May Dan is survived by her daughter, Nancy McKnight of Chattanooga, granddaughter Leslie Petersen (Ryan) of Camarillo, CA; brother Charles F. “Chili” Davis (Sisty); niece Jill Davis, and nephew Brent Davis (Terri) all of Jonesboro, AR.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 18, 2016 at Young’s Chapel with Rev. Brian Trostle officiating. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in May Dan’s name to the Building Fund or Organ Fund at Hixson United Methodist Church, 5301 Old Hixson Pike, Hixson, TN 37343.
