Mitzi Gayle Sanchez

Mitzi worked in the educational field for many years, retiring as the Program Development Coordinator for Special Education at Livingston Parish Public Schools.

She enjoyed time with her Bunco Babes, was enthusiastic about art and music, she loved her family passionately and was known for her selfless personality.

Mitzi was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Martha Wood; brothers-in-laws Gary Paul Sanchez and Earl Lee; grandson Callen James Sanchez.

Survivors are her loving husband of fifty years Joseph Richard “Dickie” Sanchez Jr; daughter Mandi Gayle Sanchez- Karisny and Micheal Karisny of St. Francisville, Louisiana and son Joseph “Richard” Sanchez III and Tabitha Sanchez of Humble, Texas; Grandchildren Olivia, Colton, Maci Gayle, Stanley, Wyndi, Penny and Madi Gayle; brothers Rick Wood (Michele) of Asheville, Alabama, Ronnie and Sherri Wood of El Dorado, Arkansas; sister-in-law Patti Sanchez of St. Francisville, Louisiana, along with a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am, Monday, September 14th, 2026, at Youngs Chapel preceding the funeral service at 11:00 am with Landin Norman officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Garden under the direction of Youngs Funeral Directors.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
