Nettia Hale peacefully departed from this life September 22, 2023. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, December 19, 1931, to the late Vernon and Nettia Elkins Hinson. Affectionately known as "Sissy" by her family, she grew up in west Little Rock, the area now known as Pleasant Valley, alongside her six brothers and five sisters. Nettia graduated from Joe T. Robinson High School before pursuing her nursing degree at Arkansas Baptist School of Nursing.
She married Clifton R. Hale on August 1, 1952, at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock. Together, they raised and are survived by three children: Lou Ann (David) Voris, Don (Andrea) Hale of El Dorado, and Mylinda Jean Davis of Springdale. She is also survived by seven cherished grandchildren: Justin Voris, Jeremy Voris, Russ Davis, Reece Davis, Lauren Hall, Alex Johnston, and Clark Hale, as well as seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Nettia dedicated over forty years of her life as a registered nurse, serving in various capacities with Dr. Robert L. Turnbow OB-GYN, the Arkansas Department of Public Health, El Dorado Public Schools, and the Union Medical Center. Nursing was not just her profession but her passion, and she took immense joy in caring for others. In addition to her medical expertise, she possessed remarkable sewing skills and took pleasure in crafting. She cherished family vacations and celebrated holidays with boundless enthusiasm. Her unwavering support and advocacy for those in need marked her as a true pillar of the community. She was part of a dedicated group that played a pivotal role in establishing the John Williamson Hospice House in El Dorado and served on numerous boards and commissions including the American Cancer Society. She remained a lifelong Baptist and an active member of the First Baptist Church of El Dorado.
A memorial service will be held at the Arkansas National Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 29, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors of El Dorado.
