My sincere condolences and prayers for the family. I grew up with the Robertson family as we all went to Southside School. Joe was a little older than I but I was around him because his brother Mike and I were closer in age and we played together. I surely remember his mother and his entire family as being well respected. It’s been many years since I saw any of the Robertson’s but RIP Joe.

I will miss seeing Mr. Joe in the store. He had a one of a kind dry sense of humor. Mr. Joe would come across as tough but underneath was a big ol softy. He truly will be missed

Joe was one of a kind and a good neighbor and friend. He saw me stuck in the ditch on my lawn mower one afternoon years ago and stopped and pulled me out so I could keep mowing . he loved his Lulu and I'm sure she was glad to see him again.

The Robertson boys are my first cousins. Our grandmother, Nana Robinson, was married to Mr. Cates, then Mr. Robertson, and then Mr. Robinson. I was the only girl in the crowd! Mamaw, as we called Nana, had a house on Rock Island where I spent a lot of weekends while my parents, Decimus & Louise Cates, were fishing/camping overnight. Mamaw was amazing: she had 1 cow, chickens, and 1 pecan tree in the backyard. From Thanksgiving-Christmas she baked/sold her famous jam cakes. Mamaw churned her own butter and sliced pecan halves with a small paring knife. The Robertson boys and I grew up under the amazing influence of Nana. She was kind, loving, loyal, and resourceful to the end just as Joe was a living reminder of those qualities in life we all aspire to be. God Bless You Joe! Thanks to you and Brenda for showing your beautiful properties to us last September when I returned to El Dorado for my 60th EHS reunion. Gone but not forgotten!

I haven't see Joe in years but he and his family grew up on the South side of town and we all attended Southside School! I knew Joe and his brother Mike well. Mike and I were in many of the same grade school classes and Joe wasn't far ahead. He was a good soul.
My sincere sympathy for his family during this time of loss and prayers for those surviving him!

When my parents first moved to ElDorado, we lived next door to the Robertsons. Joe and I were the same age and we were the best of friends growing up. In fact, Mrs. Robertson was my 3rd grade teacher. Joe was a great friend. If you needed a friend, Joe would stand by your side. Though i haven’t seen him in recent years, I remember a great guy, but a greater friend. Joel (Joey) Slayton
