Richard J. Trinca, a life-long El Dorado resident, passed away Sunday, May 24th after a brief illness. He was born on January 31, 1934 to Peter Joseph Trinca and Nancy Incarbona Trinca in El Dorado, Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Patricia Joiner Trinca; his sister, Mary Trinca Egerer; two daughters, Lauri Wilson of El Dorado and Shari Trinca ( Tommy Taylor) of Mena, Arkansas; two grandsons, Wes Wilson of Little Rock, Arkansas and Rick Wilson (Megan) of Maumelle, Arkansas; three great-grandchildren, Emilee Wilson, Ella Wilson and Bodhi Wilson; and a niece and nephew.
As a child he attended Holy Redeemer Catholic School, then attended Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Korea and Japan. Later he attended Southern State University in Magnolia.
Richard joined his father at Trinca’s Shoe Shop after his marriage to Pat and worked there until he retired at the age of 79 and closed the shop.
For most of his life, Richard spent much of his free time fishing. Some of his favorite spots were down on the Ouachita River and the Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge. The whole family spent many weekends waterskiing on nearby lakes and rivers. Richard continued that tradition with his grandsons. He also took great pride in his yard. For many years he maintained a beautiful landscape of colorful plants. He grew many of them from seeds and cuttings. Richard was an accomplished bowler and played in leagues for years.
After retirement Richard began to volunteer at the food pantry at St. Paul United Methodist Church. Not only was it a great opportunity to serve, but he also enjoyed the friends he made there, and he was an important part of the team for several years. He was also a hospice volunteer.
He was a life-long member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and a former member of the El Dorado Civitan Club.
