The Herrings made their home in El Dorado for 40 years where they raised their family. They were active in Marrable Hill Chapel and later St. Paul United Methodist Church. Once the children were grown, Sara and Alan enjoyed travels to Germany and Hawaii.

They moved to Bryant, Arkansas, in 2001 where they joined First United Methodist Church of Bryant. The Herrings have resided at Mt. Carmel Community in Benton, AR, since October 2015.

Survivors include her husband Alan; one daughter, Donna (Rick) Shell of Marble Hill, MO; three sons: Mark Alan (Ginie) Herring of Bryant, AR; David Brent Herring of Little Rock, AR; and Lt. Col (retired Army) Michael Kent (the late Kana) Herring of Camp Zama, Japan. Well, I don’t have a memory, as we never met. But, I know your daughter, whom you raised well! Fly high, Sara, and say hello to my Arkansas momma!
