

Schuler Mae DeBruin, 81, of Seadrift, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 in Port Lavaca. She was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to the late John Steven and Mary Eleanor Benson Glenn on November 27, 1939. Schuler had a Bachelor’s Degree in education and worked as a 5th grade teacher in Seadrift for many years. She was involved in the Calhoun County Quilt Guild, Seadrift Community Choir, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Seadrift.
In addition to her parents, Schuler is preceded in death by a sister; Jill Gaston.
She is survived by her daughter; Juli Wenske and husband Kenneth, and sons; Thomas “Tommy” DeBruin Jr. and wife Dawn, and Jamey DeBruin and wife Lise, five grandchildren; Brooke Gohlke and husband Garett, Cody Spencer and wife Kristen, Jeremy Sanders and wife Carrie, Emma DeBruin, and Eli DeBruin, as well as, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a sister; Caroline Gershner, all of whom will cherish her memory.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Seadrift, officiated by Pastor Cody Logan. Interment will be on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1:00 p.m., at Arlington Memorial Park Cemetery in El Dorado, Arkansas.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Eli DeBruin, Jeremy Sanders, Cody Spencer, Garett Gohlke, Thomas “Tommy” DeBruin, Jr., and Jamey DeBruin.
