Stella Maude Smith

She was born January 11, 1932, to Sterling Pearson Swearingen and Ida Voss Swearingen in Willow, AR. She was all about being with her precious family, whether it was on land or on the water at Lake Claiborne.

Stella had the privilege of serving as the Activities Director and a Licensed Social Worker at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home for over 15 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband and childhood sweetheart of over 41 years, Bobby Ray Smith; her parents; and her constant K-9 companion, Bambi.

Survivors include two sons, Biff Pearson Smith and his wife, Cindy Michelle Smith of Shreveport, LA, Tracy Ray Smith and his wife Jerri Beth Smith of El Dorado; three of the Greatest granddaughters in the world, Morgan Michelle Smith of Fort Worth, TX, Meredith Leigh Smith of Fort Worth, TX, Kelsey Elizabeth Smith of El Dorado, AR; sister, Janice Swearingen Woods of Arkadelphia, AR; aunt, Sue “Mama Sue” Adams of Camden, AR; and her most recent K-9 sidekick, Rosebud.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 Thursday, January 26, 2012, at Young’s.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors with Roger Cheshier, Morgan Michelle Smith, Meredith Leigh Smith, and Kelsey Elizabeth Smith officiating.
