

Born January 24, 1965 in El Dorado, she was the daughter of Max O. and Jerolyn Tompkins Taylor. Teri was a member of Maple Avenue Baptist Church in Smackover where she was very active and was baptized by Pastor Ed Glover at an early age.
Teri was a graduate of Smackover High School and was a member of the High School band serving as the drum major for two years. She was a member of the Spanish club and numerous other organizations.
Teri attended the University of Louisiana Monroe before settling in Austin, TX where she attended the Methodist Church of Round Rock with her two daughters, Margaret and Amelia. She continued her education in Austin where she obtained her paralegal degree.
Teri was an accomplished cook and baker. She was an excellent self-taught seamstress and had a children’s clothing line. She could create all type of gowns, formals and beautiful clothes as well as being an accomplished quilter. Most of all Teri was a loving mother to her two daughters.
Teri was last employed by Sherri Hill, a fashion dress designer in Austin. She recently moved back to Smackover, her hometown, where she and her mother planned to open a bakery, something Teri had always wanted to do. She was very excited to begin this project.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ervin and Flora Taylor of Taylortown, LA and Marjorie Tompkins of Wesson, two sisters, one an infant and Judi Maxanne Taylor Hill. She is also preceded in death by two uncles, Fletcher “Sonny” Tompkins and Gary Tompkins.
Survivors include her parents, Max and Jerolyn Taylor of Smackover, two daughters, Margaret Caroline Calhoun of Nashville, TN and Amelia Ann-Sarah Calhoun of Denton, TX. She is also survived by a sister, Vickie Lane Taylor Kirk of Camden, AR, one nephew, Steven Taylor Puska of Camden and one niece, Candice Dee Calloway of Austin, TX. Also surviving are two aunts, Sue Tompkins of Ruston, LA and Rosie Tompkins of Wesson, AR as well as other extended family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 in Young’s chapel with Rev. Benji McCann with interment to follow in Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Young’s.
